Practical Learning

Image
For practical learning last term we learned how to  sew our headphones bags by sewing by hand. I chose these patterns  because I love the colours of it. The part I found the trickiest was  when I kept having knots  in the thread. The part I  enjoyed the most was when I learned how to hand sew and when I was  finished with my bag. I am proud of my headphone bag.

Cross Country

Image
This was last Tuesday all of the 10 and 11 year olds girls getting ready to run but some of us are striking poses. That is me in the green top by Phoebe and Gemma. We are getting ready to run in my getting ready to run pose. To be honest it was very tiring and I was very terrified, scared and nervous because I was very scared that people would make fun of what I come in cross-country but I try my best to not be made fun of. The first thing I heard when he started running was some boys cheering for me and saying  ''Go Kini Go". At the end of my run I was so puffed that I needed to drink a lot of ice cold water. It was so fun and I cannot wait for next years cross country... bring it on!

Word Cloud - Water

Image
The words that I used was rain,  clear, glassy, crystal, fluid, fresh, sparkling, inviting, cool, cold, refreshing, turbulent, serene, wild, thunderous, frothy, bubbly, quenching,  shower,  drinking, wai, blue, warm and refreshing. I wrote all of these words because to me, it describes water.

Water Cycle

Image
In room 15 We had to get Ziplock bag and a black sharpie so we can draw a sun clouds and the ocean. Then we had to put  in the tap water.  Afterwards  we put water in our bag then we had to put food colouring in that was blue. Then we put red tape so we can stick it to a sunny window. We then waited until the water started to  evaporate into the clouds. Then the water turned into condensation before it dripped down. It collected back at the bottom of the bag. The cycle goes on and on. Evaporation: Evaporation means the process of turning from liquid into a gas from the suns heat. Condensation: Condensation means the process when the water gas in the air is changed into liquid water. Precipitation: Precipitation means  rain, snow, sleet, or hail that falls on the ground. Collection: Collection means when the water collects in a place.                            ...

Proud Moment

On 15th of January 2019 my family and I went to Hamilton to race in the national Waka Ama. My  team the midgets qualified in the regions. It was a 3 hr drive and I was super exhausted. On the next day my team and I  was nervous for our first race, as I as grab the paddle my hands were shaking and my body was making me feel like I was about to faint. As the race started I was paddling. "Whoosh whoosh" as we were paddling. All the fear disappeared, we believed in each other and we gained the bronze medal. I was super happy that all the hard work me and my girls did, it gave us a good result.

Hi I'm Kini and my favourite subject is writing  because I love to get carried away with  wonderful  pieces of writing that gives us important information about the amazing world. To be honest I'm trying to strive for accuracy in my spelling as well as my sounding out and I can't wait to do more exciting pieces of writing this year.

Swimming

Splash! The wild waves raged at me as I floated calmly across the shallow pool with the pack of girls. To be honest I really enjoy swimming with all of the girls in He Puna Kawenga and I can't wait to do more things with the girls.

Book Character

Image
This book is called Pohutukawa tree. It has six facts and these are the facts. Firstly, where do Pohutukawa trees grow?  Secondly, conditions that help Pohutukawa trees grow. Thirdly, how Pohutukawa trees are home to many. Next, how it is a special tree and about how they are in danger. To conclude, the book tells us how to save Pohutukawa trees. To be honest I like this book because I love to read fact books that help me learn about new things in the world,  especially the things that I do not know yet around in the world. It makes me so curious to read and find out more.

Carlton School Water Fight

On Monday the 25th November, 2019 the ground was so hot that it sizzled like lava as my feet melted like a blob of chocolate. When the sun shines on me on a very hot day I start to see shadows on the ground as it gave me a fright. ''Sh sh as the teachers watched us carefully, as if we were getting watched by a gang of eagles getting ready to strike. We saw Miss O'Connor too. Well to be honest it was kind of boring watching the people who remembered about the water fight at first but then it was lively and gladly enjoyably when the teachers let us free as if we were escaping from the eagles. Well I still remember the first thing I did. As I scanned all of the activities with Nevaeh, well it was a very tough decision but we both made the same decision we decided to play with the skipping rope. The first thing we played was helicopter with some of the boys in Room One and Two. Then we dipped our feet in a cold and shimmery shiny water that was see through, nice and refreshing...

Athletics

''Please please please can we please do that first. I  whispered  to myself. ''Excuse me what are we doing first?"  I asked some of the girls. "Don't you remember what we are doing today?" Said Jorja  "Oh yeah I remember now, thanks for helping me"  "You welcome" they said. The first thing we did was High jump high jump was challenging but I manged to jump five times over the pole  ''wow!'' said my mum little did I know my mum was watching me very closely but she was very proud of me.  Next we did long jump. To be honest I did well at long jump but I think that I could of gotten a longer jump. I love to feel the soft sand on my feet as it crumbled. Long distance running was a lot harder than I thought. It was kind of tiring at the same time. After long distance running it was lunch time.  After we had lunch the whole school got to play a little. Then when the bell rang we all ran back to our lines and ordered our...
